The leadership race had just one nomination so Rishi Sunak is now the new leader of the Tory party and the new Prime Minister. There's been no voting or anything like that, there's not going to be a general election until 2024.

We have a date for the new King's coronation! Saturday, 6th May, 2023. There's no information yet as to whether there's going to be a bank holiday for it. The Monday before is the May Day bank holiday so I suppose that might get moved to the Friday or the Monday after to make it a long weekend. The UK is now in national mourning which will last for 12 days, until the day after the Queen's funeral. The Royal Family will stay in mourning for a month, I think. There was an announcement from Buckingham Palace a short while ago saying that the Queen has died.

It's taken me a while to write this because I haven't quite had the words. It's definitely a sad day, and most certainly the end of an era.

We now have a new King, King Charles III. It's going to take a lot of getting used to.

There's been an announcement from Buckingham Palace this lunchtime, saying: Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.
